Obituary:
“Pork Chop” Sr., of Newberry died Jan. 20, 2005 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Deacon Johnnie H. Rutherford and Mary Alston Rutherford.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Theodore Roosevelt Rutherford, Johnnie Copeland Rutherford and Willie L. Rutherford; and a sister, Mattie R. Harris.
Surviving were his wife, Glenise C. Rutherford of the home; daughter, Tameeka G. Rutherford of Sumter; son, Raymond C. “RJ” Rutherford, Jr. of the home; grandchild, Tamia Monea Rutherford of the home; sisters, Mary R. (Johnnie E.) Chapman of Columbia; Bessie R. (Richard) Bookman of Newberry; brothers, Derry (Elizabeth) Rutherford of Columbia, Jeffie (Bennie) Rutherford and Joe Louis (Shirley) Rutherford of Pomaria, George (Annie Mae) Rutherford and David (Saundra) Rutherford of Newberry, Donald (Elizabeth) Rutherford of Prosperity; one great aunt, Bertha Baxter of Golden Valley, Minn.; mother-in-law, Willie Margaret Chaplin of Newberry; five sisters-in-law, Eva Mae Rutherford of Pomaria, Brenda (James) Williams; Margaret Chaplin, Barbara (Bobby) Chapman, Connie (James) Williams, all of Newberry; brother-in-law, Albert Harris, Jr.
